Storefront down or payments failing — any plan, any hour — we treat this as urgent whatever your plan. Say so in the subject line.
Getting set up
+ − What do I need before I can open my store?
Six things, in order: a store name and address, accepting the merchant terms, your business details, connecting Stripe, at least one product, and then publishing. The setup checklist tracks where you are and what's left.
+ − Can I change my storefront address later?
Yes, but think twice: the address is part of every link you've shared, and changing it breaks all of them. Only the store owner can do it, under Settings → Company.
+ − Why is that address unavailable?
Either another merchant has it, or it's reserved. We hold back names that look like they belong to the platform — support, billing, admin, checkout and similar — because a shopper reading the URL would reasonably think the store was run by us.
+ − Why can't I pick my country?
The list is the set of countries Stripe can pay out to. If yours isn't there, Stripe can't settle to a bank account in it, so a store there couldn't take money.
Payments and payouts
+ − Who holds my money?
You do. Stripe settles directly to your bank account on their normal payout schedule. Tokolane never takes custody of your funds and charges no transaction fee — we can't touch the money even if we wanted to.
+ − Stripe says I'm verified, but my store still won't open.
Stripe sometimes takes a few minutes to finish, and we're told through a background notification. Press "I've finished — check status" on the payments step to ask Stripe directly rather than waiting.
+ − My store went back to draft on its own.
That happens when Stripe stops allowing charges on your account — usually because they need another document from you. Leaving the store open would show shoppers a checkout that can't succeed. It republishes itself as soon as Stripe re-enables charges; check your Stripe dashboard for what they're asking for.
+ − Who handles refunds and chargebacks?
You do, through Stripe. You're the seller and the merchant of record, so the money and the dispute are both yours.
Your team
+ − How do I add someone?
Settings → Members. Pick a role: viewer reads, staff manages products and fulfils orders, admin also edits company settings and the team, and the owner additionally controls the plan and the storefront address.
+ − I invited someone and they didn't get an email.
We don't send invite emails yet. Tell them to sign up with the exact address you invited — their account links to the invitation automatically the first time they sign in.
+ − Can one person own two stores?
Not currently. One account belongs to one store. Use a separate account for a second store.
Your storefront
+ − My storefront shows 'not found'.
An unpublished store is invisible to shoppers by design. Check the setup checklist for what's still outstanding.
+ − Why do my business details have to be public?
Consumer law in the UK, EU and elsewhere requires a trader selling to consumers to publish their registered name, a real address and a way to be contacted. That's why those fields are required before you can open, and why they appear in your storefront footer.
+ − A product isn't showing up.
Draft products stay hidden. Set it to active on the product page, and check its inventory isn't zero.
